National Day for Truth and Reconciliation - Sept 30 - No School

Truth and Reconciliation Day is a special day in Canada that we observe every year on September 30. It’s also called Orange Shirt Day.

On this day, we take time to remember and learn about the history of Residential Schools in Canada.

We wear orange shirts on this day because of a story from a girl named Phyllis (Jack) Webstad, who had her orange shirt taken away when she was sent to a residential school. Her story reminds us that every child matters.
